Varinder Sahota, Wills and Estate Planning Consultant

I bring over five years of experience working within Alberta's Courts — specifically the Court of King's Bench Surrogate section — to the field of probate and estate planning. My background includes a double major in Criminology and Criminal Justice, which gave me a strong foundation for the legal work that followed.

My career began as a Judicial Clerk, where I honed my understanding of the legal intricacies involved in wills and estate planning. Over the years, I advanced to Senior Judicial Clerk, ultimately becoming the backup supervisor of the surrogate court section.

Through reviewing thousands of grant applications, I developed a deep, practical understanding of the application process — I know exactly what Justices and clerks look for during review, which allows me to guide clients with precision and confidence.

In addition to serving as a Commissioner of Oaths, I played a key role in creating the application forms currently used across Alberta and contributed to the development of the surrogate digital filing system used by law firms today. As an active member of the surrogate reform group and surrogate implementation team, I helped update forms and manuals across Alberta's surrogate section — work that has had a lasting impact on the legal framework across the province.

I know this is often a stressful and emotional time, and I take a hands-on, personal approach with every client to make the process feel less overwhelming. My goal is to keep you informed and at ease at every step — while keeping my services more affordable than a traditional law firm, without compromising on quality.

Having completed the Court of King's Bench Legal Aid certification program, I'm committed to providing the highest level of service and expertise in probate, wills, and estate planning. My mission is simple: to simplify the complexities of estate planning so your wishes are honored and your loved ones are protected.
